Michael P. Rade, MD, FACS, Presented Roswell Park Medal from Buffalo Surgical Society

Michael P. Rade, MD, FACS, a board certified general surgeon and Chairman of Surgery at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, was presented the Buffalo Surgical Society’s 2017 Roswell Park Medal. The Medal, which was established in 1947 in honor of Dr. Roswell Park, is awarded annually to a recipient who, in the opinion of the membership, has contributed significantly to the Art and Science of Surgery.

Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Rade completed his medical degree and surgical residency with the University of Buffalo (UB), School of Medicine, and completed a Fellowship in Traumatology from the AO-ASIF in 1979. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts. His practice areas include general, laparoscopic and vascular surgery.

Dr. Rade has received several awards through the years recognizing his work, including the Lifetime Achievement Award by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) in 2011; Named One of America’s Top Surgeons by Consumer Reports; Leadership Award from the Buffalo Surgical Society in 1999; and the Distinguished Service Award from the ACS in 1997.

A faculty member and Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery for the UB School of Medicine, Dr. Rade is a member of several professional organizations including the American College of Surgeons, Buffalo Surgical Society, Buffalo Vascular Society, NYS Society of Surgeons, NYS and Erie County Medical Societies, and Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery Medical Union.

Dr. Rade practices with Surgical Associates of Western New York located at 550 Orchard Park Road in West Seneca. He is a resident of Orchard Park, NY.
