Lackawanna Festival’s new format considered a huge success

Last weekend’s Lackawanna Festival looked entirely different from previous years. The usual Carnival rides, that families had to pay to ride, were eliminated from the program. Instead, a FREE kids fun zone was added, which included a water slide, obstacle course, Velcro wall, joust pod, dunk tank and 10 other inflatable fun activities. Softball returned to the festival, as a fast pitch tournament and Police vs Fire game was held. A car and motorcycle cruise, along with a craft show, were added to the schedule and very well attended. Bands entertained the beer tent every night, and food trucks were available throughout. The relatively new backyard game of “Cornhole” found its way to the festival, as a Cornhole tournament was held. The B.O.Y.S. association hosted a Chiavetta’s Chicken Barbeque to raise funds for its baseball program. The Lackawanna Festival would not have been complete without our grand Fire Works show, which was the best yet. Mayor Geoff Syzmanski would like to thank all who attended this year’s Lackawanna Festival, and trusts that a good time was had by all.
